His life was cut short by illness, seen on his face at later years. Many people (especially in Egypt where he hailed from), committed suicide after his death in late 70s.
All and all, Hafiz' song Zay Il Hawa (زي إلهوا), is translated as 'Like The Air'. Hawa is an Arabic word which means 'air' literally. Also, in Hebrew it means Love, but is pronounced as A-Hava. Air in poetic wordings of old Arabian literary works means 'Love', also, as it was considered something transient, non-stable, fleeting, etc. So, translation handy, it is a wordplay on Love itself all during the whole song, where the lover finds himself "Clutching Air In My Hands...", that is his lost love.
Most of Hafiz' songs were recorder/pressed as Live songs, some can stretch to an hour and a half, plus. It's how most of the Egyptian 70s' singers performed in large theaters back then.
Dig with a shovel, indeed.
H.H.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6365364965833913481.post-60927453984909827242011-03-27T01:41:42.377-07:002011-03-27T01:41:42.377-07:00There is a studio version of the last song Abdel H...There is a studio version of the last song Abdel Halim recorded before dying...Habibati Men Takoon?
