In my view, Fahey, Basho & McGrath are something of a holy trinity for american primitive solo guitar. Among them, McGrath is easily the least well-known. Cornflower Suite is his outstanding first LP. This is a fresh vinyl rip by yours truly. Enjoy.

Ok, i admit, i find Basho's music self-indulgent, boring, pompous and simply unbearable.
McGrath, on the other hand, is, at least to my ears, easily the most accessible of your trinity of primitive guitar. All albums i've heared from him are wonderful.

Mega. There is really trippy stuff happening here that spans classicism, folk, medieval textures, drone, all kinds of stuff. Could have been made right now in the context of the so-called 'new wyrd' stylings. Amazing.
