Baden Powell- Baden : O Som de Baden Powell *1968 (Elenco, ME-48)

Baden. This handsomely designed Brazilian pressing, originally released by Elenco in 1968, serves up a distinctive handful of subtly produced bossa and samba outtakes that were recorded at Powell’s 1966 Tristeza on Guitar sessions. Lovely stuff. When compared, the overall vibe on Baden is clearly the more reflective of the two.

Nick, always freaks me out this fine guitarist shares name with the founder of Boy Scouts of America.

I like to think that the BS Baden Powell would adore this lp, & be horrified with what the BSA has come to symbolize. Probably not - the man had major issues with sexuality, race, fascism, you name it. A very conflicted man.

At any rate, thank you - a wonderful album :-)

Very lovely. Herbie Mann's cameo is kind of a nice surprise as well. Great stuff -- thank you for this!

Bossa Nova is some of the most refreshing music on earth. Glad to hear that Herbie Mann makes an appearance as well. Thanks very much!

nice to see some Baden here. he actually recorded a full album with Herbie Mann, along with a stellar staff: "Do The Bossa Nova with Herbie Mann". crazy good.
